HIGH DEFINITION ADAPTIVE DRIVING BEAM [G2769942]

The high definition adaptive driving beam evaluates the area ahead of the vehicle. The system automatically adjusts the high beam headlight distribution according to the position of preceding and oncoming traffic. The system also selectively reduces the light intensity falling on reflective objects, for example road signs, to reduce glare.

NOTE:

The high definition adaptive driving beam system is only available on vehicles with Digital LED headlights.

The high definition adaptive driving beam is active when:

  1. AUTO mode is selected. See LIGHTING CONTROL.
  2. Low ambient light conditions are detected.
  3. An urban environment is not detected.
  4. The vehicle’s speed is 40 km/h (25 mph) or higher.
NOTE:

The instrument panel illuminates a blue warning lamp when the high definition adaptive driving beam is active, irrespective of the high or dipped beam headlights being illuminated. See HIGH BEAM (BLUE).

WARNING:

The high definition adaptive driving beam system must not be relied on to react correctly in all circumstances. The driver remains responsible for the correct use of the headlights at all times. Incorrect use of the headlights could lead to an accident, potentially causing serious injury or death.

WARNING:

The high definition adaptive driving beam system uses sensors mounted on the rear of the rear-view mirror. Keep this area of the vehicle clean and free from obstructions, e.g. stickers, debris, mud, snow, or ice. Failure to do so may lead to sensor miscalculations, which could lead to an accident, potentially causing serious injury or death.

The high definition adaptive driving beam system deactivates when:

  1. The vehicle’s speed drops below 24 km/h (15 mph).
  2. Ambient light levels improve above pre-determined levels.
  3. Reverse (R) is selected.
  4. The front or rear fog lights are selected.
  5. AUTO mode is deactivated.

The high definition adaptive driving beam system can be overridden using the lighting control.

Pull the lighting control back, and release, to manually change to dipped beam headlights. The instrument panel warning lamp extinguishes.

To reactivate the high definition adaptive driving beam system, push the lighting control forward and release. The instrument panel warning lamp illuminates.

Repeated pushing of the lighting control toggles operation between the high definition adaptive driving beam system and manual operation of the high beam headlights.

The high definition adaptive driving beam system can be switched on and off via the touchscreen as follows:

  1. Touch the settings icon¹.
  2. Select ALL.
  3. Select Vehicle.
