OCCUPANT PROTECTION ASSIST [G2921076]

WARNING:

Make sure the relevant safety warnings and notes have been read and understood before driving the vehicle. See COLLISION AVOIDANCE SAFETY.

The occupant protection assist system helps identify any potential collision risks from the front and rear of the vehicle.

The occupant protection assist system operates when either:

  1. The Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) feature becomes active and a collision is imminent.
  2. A rear collision threat approaches and a collision is imminent.

In the event of an imminent collision the system prepares the vehicle cabin for the safety of the occupants. The following items adjust in preparation of a collision:

  1. Open windows begin to move to within 25 mm of the closed position.*
  2. The seat belts are pre-tensioned.
  3. Rear collision only: The head restraints move forward.
  4. The passenger's electric seat backs move forward.
  5. The sunroof begins to move to the closed position if open.*

*Not applicable in Australia.

If the imminent collision threat is no longer detected the occupant protection system will restore some of the items to the previous positions.
