AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) LIMITATIONS [G2769794]

Vehicle detection Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) does not operate if:

  1. The vehicle is negotiating a tight corner.
  2. The forward-facing cameras are dirty or obscured.
  3. The forward-facing radars are dirty or obscured.
    NOTE:

The fitting of forward-facing radars depends on the vehicle specification.

  4. The vehicle’s speed is below 3 mph (5 km/h), or above 50 mph (80 km/h).
  5. The vehicle's speed is above 80 mph (130 km/h).
    NOTE:

    Dependant on the vehicle specification.

  6. Visibility is impaired due to severe weather conditions, e.g., heavy rain, fog, or snow.
  7. The distance required to slow or stop the vehicle is dependent on the condition of the vehicle’s tires and the road surface.

In addition to the items listed for the vehicle detection AEB system, the junction assist feature when turning right or left does not operate if:

  1. Detected vehicles speed is above 39 mph (64 km/h).
  2. The host vehicle turning left or right speed is above 12 mph (20 km/h).
  3. The detected object is not identified as a vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian.
  4. The height of the object is less than 3.3 ft (1 m).
  5. The junction detection AEB system cannot determine that the target object is a pedestrian or cyclist. For example, if the pedestrian or cyclist is carrying a large object.
  6. The pedestrian detection AEB system cannot determine that the target object is a pedestrian. For example, if the pedestrian is carrying a large object.

In addition to the items listed for the vehicle detection AEB system, the pedestrian detection AEB system does not operate if:

  1. The vehicles speed is above 37 mph (60 km/h).
  2. The detected object is not identified as a pedestrian.
  3. The height of the object is less than 3.3 ft (1 m).
  4. The pedestrian detection AEB system cannot determine that the target object is a pedestrian. For example, if the pedestrian is carrying a large object.

In addition to the items listed for the vehicle detection AEB system, the cyclist detection AEB system does not operate if:

  1. The vehicle's speed is above 37 mph (60 km/h).
  2. The detected object is not identified as a cyclist.
  3. The cyclist AEB detection system cannot determine that the target object is a cyclist. For example, if the cyclist is carrying a large object.
