TEMPORARY USE SPARE WHEEL AND TIRE CHANGE [G2783812]

The temporary-use spare wheel does not have a TPMS sensor.

If the temporary-use spare wheel is fitted, the system automatically recognizes the missing sensor and position. After approximately 10 minutes of driving above 16 mph (25 km/h), the instrument panel displays the Front (Rear) right (left) tire pressure not monitored message. The message is accompanied by illumination of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning lamp. See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) (YELLOW).

The TPMS warning lamp first flashes and then illuminates continuously.

The TPMS warning lamp display sequence activates at every ignition cycle, until the temporary spare wheel is replaced by a full-size road wheel with a TPMS sensor fitted.

The TPMS automatically re-calibrates when a full size wheel is fitted to the vehicle, and the vehicle is driven above 16 mph (25 km/h) for approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

Contacting a retailer/authorized repairer is not required unless the TPMS warning lamp still flashes, and then remains illuminated, after the vehicle has been driven:

  1. with a full-size road wheel with a TPMS sensor fitted, and
  2. above 16 mph (25 km/h) for approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
NOTE:

Illumination of the TPMS warning lamp is normal when a temporary-use spare wheel with no TPMS sensor is fitted, and is not a cause for concern.
