The Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) automatically emits an external synthesized sound to enable pedestrians to be audibly aware of the vehicle’s presence. AVAS operates from stationary to 18 mph (30 km/h) when the electric motor is driving the vehicle. See HYBRID SYSTEM OVERVIEW.
