DTC Snapshot (G4265991)

A new addition to the available Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) snapshot data has been added to TOPIx Cloud. The snapshot information will be displayed as Signal Description and Signal Source.

This snapshot data will provide information about the specific network message that has caused the DTC to be set, and the module the network message originates from.

This can be helpful in the instance of missing message DTCs both for technicians within retailers, and internal users such as helpdesk staff.

To view this snapshot data:

  1. You must be a registered user, logged into TOPIx.
  2. Select TOPIx Home Page to open the vehicle search page.
  3. Enter a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from the Vehicle Search Page.
  4. In OPTION SELECTION menu select any of the options.
  5. Select Diagnostics.
  6. Select DTCs from the Applications and Troubleshooting screen.
  7. Select a DTC from the list of logged DTCs
  8. From the left pane select DTC Snapshot.
  9. All local DTC snapshot data will be displayed in the upper table on the left pane. The signal description will be displayed in the lower row of this table.

NOTE: If there is no Signal Description logged for the DTC then N/A will be displayed and there will be no row for Signal Source.

‘Over The Air’ (OTA) DTC logs

It is now possible for users of TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics, to view DTCs that have been logged by the vehicle ‘Over The Air’ (OTA), without the need for the vehicle to be present. This provides a unique ability to interpret vehicle concerns before the vehicle has arrived at a workshop.

The DTCs will be presented in the workflow DTC list, where any OTA DTCs will be identified by a Wi-Fi symbol and any DTCs logged through Network Integrity Test (NIT) DTC) will be identified with a connector symbol. The presented list can be filtered, to leave all DTCs, only OTA DTCs or only NIT DTCs

To view the DTC list:

  1. Start a fault and breakdown workflow.
  2. From the presented symptom selection step1, scroll down to the ‘DTCs Read From Vehicle Table’.
  3. In the DTC column, the DTCs will be presented along with the relevant indicator to show wether they were logged through OTA or through NIT.
  4. The DTC help text and snapshot can be viewed as normal for any connected DTCs
  5. Along the top of the ‘DTCs Read From Vehicle’ there is a ‘Source’ option with ‘OTA’ or ‘NIT’ check boxes.
  6. These check boxes can both be selected and deselected to either filter or include the DTCs in the presented list.
NOTE:

Any DTCs that have been logged OTA may remain visible after running a DTC clear application with the diagnostic equipment. These DTCs can be considered historic and can be filtered out using the ‘Source’ check boxes.
