The Diagnostic Device Agent (DDA) does not install, what can I do?

Internet concerns
- Internet has lost connection to your provider - is the internet connection complete - can you access TOPIx?
- Internet browser is incompatible or not up to date - review system specifications and update if required.

Hidden icons caused by user display preferences
- Installer pop-up window is active on the machine lower toolbar - select to view and complete the instruction prompt.
- Installer pop-up windows may continue to be displayed in the lower toolbar and not in the main screen view – device set-up will affect how the pop-up messages are displayed.

Firewall permissions
- Windows Firewall settings must be set to allow permissions for private networks, such as work and home.

Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) and vehicle communications
- Unable to connect to a vehicle – do the VCI function lights indicate correct operation and connection to the vehicle. Resolve if there is an error with the mechanical connection to the vehicle.
- Unable to connect to a vehicle – select Refresh Connection Status on the TOPIx screen to reset connection to the vehicle. It is normal for a delay to occur before the TOPIx screen refreshes. This is to allow for the TOPIx system to re-establish its connection.

Logout or Exit the DDA and Login again, connection to a vehicle will be re-established.

Registration problems
- Registration method of the DDA uses the machine name and details to register the device and hardware. If this is not accepted by the you, DDA will NOT complete installation and the process must be restarted.
- Could not register due to a connection issue message – is internet connection complete can you access TOPIx? Retry DDA installation.

DDA registration is authenticated but the installation of software does not complete – the machine user may require administration rights. Otherwise restricted user access may block the changes required by the DDA Installer.
There was an unexpected operation of the
DDA, what can I do?
The DDA may automatically log out if:
- There has been a significant duration of inactivity
- TOPIx session has expired
- Internet connection has been interrupted or lost
- A pop-up displays with the message 'Unable to communicate with TOPIx, devices will remain OFFLINE'.
DDA login has to be completed in 60 seconds or it will timeout. If you do not login during this time the login process must be restarted.
How do I uninstall the
DDA
If it is necessary to uninstall the DDA complete the following steps:
- Select the DDA icon located in the lower toolbar.
- Select Logout, then select Exit to close the application.
- Select the Windows Control Panel icon.
- Select All Programs.
- Select DDA.
- Select DDA Uninstaller.

DDA Uninstaller will start. If an error message is displayed that states, 'Unable to delete files, is Diagnostic Device Agent still running?' It will stop the uninstall operation. Step 1 must be completed.
- Select Next to start the uninstall or Quit to exit the uninstaller if a mistake has been made.
- Allow the uninstaller to complete and a pop-up message will appear to inform that the DDA has been successfully removed.
- Select Finish to close.

DDA need additional hardware?
No – TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics hosts the core software and does not require excessive hard disk space. The latest
VCI is supported by the
DDA.
Will there be future demands from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to retailers for new machines to be purchased as a minimum standard?
The vision is for TOPIX Cloud Diagnostics and the
DDA to be compatible with certain machines.
What internet browsers are required?
For the best possible experience
JLR recommend using the Google Chrome browser. Other internet browsers are supported.
Is there an offline capability?
No – TOPIx and the
DDA require an internet connection at all times to allow authentication, latest information and functionality to be available to the user.
How does a user extract vehicle diagnostic session data?
This is done automatically when the session is active and on closure of a session. Data is passed from the your machine to the TOPIx system. Session data can be reviewed within TOPIx by you and a
JLR Engineer.
