SWITCHING DSC OFF [G1799517]

WARNING:

Safety may be reduced by inappropriately switching DSC off. In the majority of driving situations, and particularly on-road, it is recommended that DSC is not switched off.

In some driving conditions, it may be appropriate to switch DSC off to improve traction. These conditions include:

DSC should be switched on again as soon as the difficulty is overcome.

CAUTION:

DSC must be switched off when traction devices are fitted to the vehicle. See USING SNOW CHAINS.

NOTE:

DSC is automatically enabled when the ignition is switched on.

To switch DSC off, press and briefly hold the DSC OFF button. The Message centre will display DSC OFF to confirm, and a short warning chime will sound. The DSC off warning lamp will also illuminate continuously. See DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC) OFF (AMBER). Switching DSC off also reduces the level of traction control intervention, and may lead to an increase in wheel spin.

CAUTION:

For vehicles supplied with a single speed transfer box (high range only), it is recommended that DSC is switched on, as the system will enhance the available traction in all situations, in conjunction with the appropriate Terrain response program. See TERRAIN RESPONSE OPERATION.
