TOWING WEIGHTS [G1801060]

For details of the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), the Gross Train Weight (GTW), and the front and rear axle weights, see WEIGHTS.

NOTE:

Include the trailer's nose weight when calculating the GVW and the rear axle weight.

NOTE:

When calculating the vehicle's rear axle weight, the vehicle's payload weights must also be considered. Include the combined weights of all the rear passengers, the loadspace, roof rail, accessory equipment, and the trailer nose weight. The combined weights must never exceed the GVW or the maximum weights for the front and rear axles.

NOTE:

Make sure to observe and comply with the legal requirements for the country in which the vehicle is travelling.

Maximum permissible towing weightsVariant kg
Unbraked trailer.All vehicles.750
Trailer with overrun brakes.Hybrid and SVR vehicles.3 000
All other vehicles.3 500
Unrestricted tow ball nose weight.¹All vehicles.150
Restricted tow ball nose weight.²Electrically deployable tow ball towing a trailer with overrun brakes.200
All other tow balls towing a trailer with overrun brakes.350
Tow ball mounted accessories.All vehicles.66.8
NOTE:

¹ When towing in the European Union (EU), the maximum GVW can be increased by 100 kg. The vehicle's maximum road speed is then limited to 97 km/h (60 mph). In this event, the maximum trailer nose weight is 150 kg when the vehicle is in its fully laden condition.

NOTE:

² The restriction only applies to trailers with overrun brakes. For the powered tow ball option, a restricted weight of 200 kg applies. Make sure that the GVW, the GTW, and the maximum rear axle weight limits are not exceeded when applying the trailer nose weight. If required, reduce the weight of the vehicle's payload.

For all other towing systems, the nose weight can be increased to 250 kg. Make sure that the GVW, the GTW, and the maximum rear axle weight limits are not exceeded when applying the trailer nose weight. If required, reduce the weight of the vehicle's payload.

NOTE:

The electrically deployable tow ball is limited to a maximum trailer nose weight of 100 kg for off-road use.

For further information, contact a retailer/authorised repairer and quote the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). See LABEL LOCATIONS.

Australia only

The trailer nose weight must be a minimum of 7% of the gross caravan or trailer weight, up to a maximum of 350 kg.
